                               RESOLUTION NO. 19387
                  
                  
                   A RESOLUTION ANNOUNCING THE SUPPORT OF THE
                   CHATTANOOGA CITY COUNCIL FOR THE EFFORTS OF
                   THE SCENIC CITIES BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION IN
                   THE SECOND ANNUAL GLAD BAG-A-THON PROGRAM.
                  
                  
                                                    
                  
                  
       	    	 WHEREAS, Chattanooga is rich in natural resources and
       unique beauty; and
       	    	 WHEREAS, the month of April being one of the loveliest
       months of the year, when flowers begin to bloom, grass turns
       green, and citizens throughout the area begin flocking outdoors
       for travel, sightseeing, sports and all the pleasures that our
       area has to offer; and
       	    	 WHEREAS, in our enjoyment of the outdoors we tend to
       forget that the next time it may not be so pleasant if we have to 

       wade through the litter of those who come before us, and those 
who
       come after us will not appreciate our litter; and
       	    	 WHEREAS, it takes so little time to deposit of our trash
       in receptacles for that purpose, dispose of our household refuse
       in a proper manner, or use a car litterbag as we travel, rather
       than dumping it just anywhere; and
       	    	 WHEREAS, it should be the goal of all citizens to make
       our area an even more beautiful place in which to live by keeping 

       it clean and beautiful for our enjoyment as well as that of all
       future generations; and
       	    	 WHEREAS, it is the goal of the Scenic Cities Beautiful
       Commission to encourage citizens to do their part, not only 
during
       April, but during all twelve months of the year, to keep the
       natural beauties of our area unmarred by unsightly litter;
                                NOW, THEREFORE,
       	    	 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
       CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, that there be and is hereby announced the 

       support of the Chattanooga City Council for the efforts of the
       Scenic Cities Beautiful Commission in the second annual GLAD
       Bag-A-Thon Program, March 28, 1992 through April 25, 1992, the
       nation's largest organized clean-up and recycling program.
